ADOPTION INFO

We are not an adoption agency but help facilitate the adoptions of our little ones in Haiti. If  you have any questions or would like to request an application please contact  Robin Knight

We strongly encourage families who are seriously considering adoption from Children of the Promise to join our Yahoo Groups. There is a group of people who are adopting specifically from Children of the Promise  or who have already brought their child/ren home.

Basic Requirements to adopt:

  • Parents must be 30 years of age or older.  (One parent can be 28 as long as the other is 30)
  • Parents must be married for at least 5 years.
  • Single men are not allowed to adopt.
  • Haiti does not allow homosexual couples to adopt.
  • You may have no more than 4 children. There are some exceptions so please ask.
  • If you have any form of infertility we will need that documented.

UPDATE: 8/19/2008 Adoption fees will be increasing for dossiers arriving in Haiti on or after October 1st.

UPDATE: 8/8/2008 We are starting to accept application from families with up to 3 kids.  We are also no longer accepting independent adoptions. We contact one of these agencies we work with for more information. Celebrate Children International and A Love Beyond Borders

UPDATE: 4/11/2008 We are starting to accept application from families with up to 2 kids.

UPDATE: 3/3/2008 We are starting to accept application, but only from the following families. 1. Married at least 5 years. 2. No children. 3. Both parents are at least 30 years old. 4. Christian families.

UPDATE: 3/3/2008 Due to Haiti regulations we will no longer be photo listing our children who are for adoption. We will refer our children to families who have their paperwork finished.

UPDATE: 11/15/07 We are no longer accepting new applications until sometime in 2008. If you have already been approved to adopt or in the process of gathering your paperwork, this does not apply to you. We will be concentrating on getting the kids home that are already in the process.

Our adoptive parents are made up of married couples with no children, families with children, single and divorced women,  who believe that Jesus Christ  is God,  the Son of God the Father and the only Savior and Lord, and apart from Him,  there is no salvation.  Anybody who does not believe and accept  Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, cannot adopt children from COTP.

We, ourselves at Children of the Promise, are committed  Born Again  non-denominational Christians.  We do not discriminate against  other  Christian groups, Protestant or Catholic.  We ask that all of our prospective adoptive families to be honest with us from the very beginning. We strongly suggest that no families start  preparing their dossiers without having our approval. Please, do not assume that  you will be approved to adopt from COTP, although we will happily and gratefully approve all qualified families who are  biblical Christians.

Any persons or families who are: 1) Biblical Christians, 2) at least 30 years old  3) married for 5  (5) years or more, are automatically qualified to adopt from Children of the Promise.

Few New Policies:
  1. Family may not visit/volunteer if your child is over 2 years of age. This is far too difficult for the children. These children know who their parents are from your pictures and talk about you.  To spend time with them and then leave Haiti without them is abandoning them and will make your bonding when the adoption is final, much harder.
  2. We will not change your child's name if they are over 1 year old. If they are under 1 year old we will start calling your child by their new name. What you do with their name when they come home is up to you.
